The Journey of a Selltons Steel Bottle: From Raw Steel to Your Kitchen
It’s easy to take a bottle for granted once it’s sitting on your desk, filled and ready. But getting there involves a fair number of steps, each one aimed at the same goal — something that looks good, holds up to daily use, and is genuinely safe to drink from.
It starts with the steel itself. Food-grade stainless steel is selected specifically because it resists corrosion and doesn’t react with liquids — a non-negotiable starting point for anything that touches food or drink.
Shaping comes next. Sheets of steel are formed into the bottle’s body, and for double-wall designs, an inner and outer shell are shaped separately before being joined, with the gap between them sealed under vacuum to create the insulation layer.
Finishing is where the character comes in. Whether it’s a mirror polish, a matte texture, or a painted colour finish, this stage is what gives each bottle its final look and feel in your hand.
Every bottle is checked before it ships. Leak testing, seal checks, and a visual inspection all happen before a bottle is considered ready to leave the factory floor.
None of this is meant to be visible when you’re just filling up for your morning commute — and that’s rather the point. A well-made bottle should just quietly work, every single day, without you having to think about what went into it.
